Artist and musician Gordon Solomon was born in George Town, Grand Cayman during the late 70′s. As a Caymanian artist, he uses his community and surroundings as a constant reminder of where he desires to go within the world of art.
While composing a solid foundation in the Cayman Islands, Gordon continues to unearth his talent to create works of art that jolt the viewers and intrigues them to stay a while longer and get lost in the painting. His cultural paintings capture the serenity of the Cayman Islands, but also, he says, “Imparts our heritage and culture in a way that people can feel reminisce when looking at them and understand where we came from.”
Gordon also continues to assist various charitable organizations such as Cayman Hospice Care, N.C.V.O, C.I.C.C and others with his art, “An important part of my talent is to give back” he comments.
Gordon has been honored with the Cayman Islands Cultural Foundation’s Artistic Endeavor Award in December 2002, The Silver Star Medal for Creativity in the Arts in November 2009 and placed 2nd in the Ogier Art Awards in 2012. With exhibitions locally and internationally his techniques and styles are noticeably unique.
His original paintings and some prints can be found locally at the Cayman Islands Museum, the Cayman Islands National Archives and galleries such as Pure Art Gallery, Kennedy Gallery and The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands.
Gordon invites commissioned paintings for those who desire an exceptional piece of fine art.
