Dutch artist Bert J. Hekket was born in Sorong, in former Dutch New Guinea.
He traveled around the world most of his life. All the visual impressions gathered from his journeys are reflected in his artwork, where the human being in particular is the point of focus.
After his early retirement from flying airplanes he dedicated himself to the art of oil painting. Bert is painting in the classical way of the masters of the seventeenth century. His inspiration for his style is found in the work of nineteenth century painter William Bouguereau end his French contemporaries. He is specialized in painting portraits.
